What is it?
Powtoon is a content creation platform that allows users to create animated videos and presentations.
What is its purpose?
*Powtoon is a web-based software that enables users to create professional animated video presentations and explainers/messages. Users can choose to edit templates that have already been created or design their own visual content from scratch. Powtoon also offers screen recording and whiteboard doodling tools.
How do I use it?
Memorial has a group license for Powtoon, and instructors can obtain free access to the software by sending an email to tlx@mun.ca and requesting access to Powtoon. To learn more about requesting and accessing Powtoon, please visit the CITL Powtoon webpage.
To create and share your first Powtoon animated video, check the Powtoon tutorial page. You can also learn more about the Screen & Cam Recording function of Powtoon by visiting the CITL Powtoon webpage.
Why would I use it?
Powtoon provides instructors with a fun and creative way to communicate with students or deliver their course content.
Powtoon offers a large selection of educational footage, scenes, animations, characters, fonts, and music.
Recordings created with Powtoon can be used as an alternative to PowerPoint and shared on a Brightspace course site.
It does not require installing any software or applications, i.e., it can run on different web browsers.
