What is it?

ActivePresenter is an all-in-one screen recorder and interactive e-learning authoring tool.

What is its purpose?

ActivePresenter can record/capture desktop screens, edit screencast videos, and create interactive eLearning contents in HTML5. The software includes several editing features/tools for audio and video files. 

How do I use it?

You can download and install the ActivePresnter software for Windows and macOS. There is only one setup package that will serve as both free and paid editions. View this video tutorial to learn more about downloading and installing ActivePresenter.

ActivePresenter website offers different tutorials to create video demos, software simulations, interactive quizzes, and edit videos/audios. You can also download ActivePrester User Manual from their Tutorials.

Why would I use it?

  • ActivePresenter is an easy-to-use screen recorder and video/audio editor.
  • It supports webcam recording and keyboard/mouse click captures.
  • It allows instructors to create interactive eLearning content and quizzes in HTML5, which can run on different web browsers and be embedded into several learning management systems such as Brightspace.
  • ActivePresenter comes with many useful features such as well-designed templates, responsive design, different transition and animation effects, multiple languages for closed captions, and various output formats.

Usage considerations

Advanced features of the tool are limited to the Standard and Pro versions. Some features, such as exporting to Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, are not available on macOS.
