Zotero is an open-source reference management software used to manage bibliographic data and related research materials.
What is its purpose?
Zotero helps to collect, manage, and cite references.
Zotero allows the user to co-write a paper with a colleague, distribute course materials to students, or build a collaborative bibliography.
How do I use it?
The software can be installed directly from Zotero .
Installation Instructions will guide the user through every step in the proceess.
Installing the Zotero desktop version should automatically add the Zotero plugin to Microsoft Word.
It also works as a Firefox extension or as a standalone version with a connector to Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera.
Why would I use it?
You can use Zotero for reference management while writing a thesis, manuscript or report.

The basic version of the software saves data to your own computer by default and doesn’t require sharing any personal data with Zotero. However, in order to use some advanced features, you are required to provide some personal information such as user name, email address, IP address, browser information, access log etc.
