What is it?

Mendeley is a reference management software and an academic social network.

What is its purpose?

Manage, organize and share your references and generate citations while writing a thesis or a research paper.

How do I use it?

You need to install Mendeley software on your computer. You can access Mendeley from any computer through the desktop client or web browser.  Mendeley supports the citation plugin for Word, Word for Mac and LibreOffice.

You can back up your reference library in the cloud when you sync your local computer. Mendeley offers free cloud storage up to 2 GB. Additional cloud storage requires a Premium plan.  

Why would I use it?

You can use Mendeley to generate citations and bibliographies in different reference/citation styles.  Mendeley supports more than 8000 reference/citation styles.

This service is not offered by Memorial University and has not been reviewed by Information Management and Protection. Mendeley collects information about users in three ways: directly from user input, from third-party sources, and through automated technologies. The following information may be collected: your name, email address, postal address, phone number, username and password, ORCID ID, payment information, government-issued ID number, institutional user ID, job title, computer device information, IP address, browser type and version, operating system, physical location of device etc.
