What is it?

Edpuzzle is an online video editing tool that allows instructors and students to upload their own content or use existing video content from the Edpuzzle library, including videos from YouTube, National Geographic, TED Talks, Khan Academy, Vimeo, and more.

What is its purpose?

Instructors can upload or edit videos to share with students.

Instructors and students can crop or shorten videos to suit their needs as well as add voice-overs, comments, resources, and quizzes to the video(s) they choose. Comments and quiz questions can be added within the videos.

Edpuzzle provides analytics that allows you to track who has watched the video and how many times it has been watched. The analytics also shows students' overall scores on quizzes and their responses to each question.

Instructors can assign due dates for completing video activities and quizzes, can prevent students from skipping through videos, and can also upload quiz results into other marking platforms.

How do I use it?

Edpuzzle is an online platform that can be accessed directly from your browser.

Though users must register for an account, Edpuzzle has an association with Google and so anyone with a Memorial University email account can use their MUN login information to sign-up for Edpuzzle.

To do so, the user selects the sign-up button, selects whether they are a Teacher or a Student, and then selects the Sign in with Google option. Log in using your MUN credentials to complete your registration for an Edpuzzle account and begin using.

Each time the user would like to log into their Edpuzzle account, they would select the Sign in with Google option using their MUN credentials.

Why would I use it?

The platform allows instructors to easily disseminate video content to students, track their participation in the activities and assess their performance. Interactive video content allows instructors to enhance student engagement with class materials and promotes active learning.

Usage considerations

Adding voice-overs may not be available for all types of videos.
